STEERING BOOT ( MATERIAL: SILICONE )

 TIE ROD DUST COVER

■    The dust cover at the both ends of the steering gear is used to prevent mud water, oil and dust from entering the interior of the steering gear, so as to avoid hard steering or failure. As steering gear is an important security part of a vehicle, it will seriously endanger the safety of the driver and passenger in case of failure.

 Neoprene Tie Rod Dust Cover

■    Standard rubber dust covers are the most common type used in many vehicles. They offer excellent flexibility, wear resistance, and cost-effectiveness. The design of standard rubber dust covers typically includes accordion-style folds, allowing them to expand and contract during steering movements to provide reliable protection against dust, debris, and moisture. These covers are widely used in compact cars, sedans, and some light trucks under standard driving conditions.

 TPEE Tie Rod Dust Cover

■    TPEE materials are the newest of the thermoplastic elastomers that are gaining attention and are being used in preference by an increasing number of automotive manufacturers. TPEE contains PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) polyester hard segment and aliphatic polyester or polyether soft segment in a linear block copolymer. It combines the excellent elasticity of rubber and the easy processability of thermoplastic, with an adjustable hardness and softness and free design.

Mechanical Performance: Through the adjustment of the ratio of soft and hard sections, the hardness of TPEE may range from Shore D30-82, and its elasticity and strength are between rubber and plastic, with extremely high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, low temperature flexibility, and abrasion resistance.

High and low temperature resistance: TPEE features excellent heat resistance, and as hardness increases, heat resistance becomes improved. In addition, it features excellent low temperature resistance. The brittle point is lower than -70℃, and the lower the hardness, the better the cold resistance, and allows long-term use at -40℃.

Chemical resistance: TPEE possesses excellent oil resistance and is resistant to polar liquid chemical media at normal temperature, with its resistance to chemicals increasing as its hardness improves.

Weather fastness: TPEE has outstanding chemical stability when subjected to many varying conditions, such as water spray, ozone, and outdoor atmospheric aging. Degradation will occur under UV light, as it happens with most TPEs.

 Silicone Tie Rod Dust Cover

■    The silicone tie rod dust cover is able to stay flexible and durable in extremely cold weather conditions, ensuring that the steering system is protected and functions under harsh weather conditions. Silicone dust covers are commonly used in commercial vehicles and heavy-duty machinery, allowing them to provide optimal protection and performance in extreme climatic conditions.

 Maintenance Tips

■    The steering tie rod dust cover also needs to be checked and replaced on a regular basis to ensure the normal operation of the steering gear. Do as follows to dismantle it
1.  First loosen the lock nut of the steering ball joint, which also needs to be tightened while performing four-wheel alignment.
2.  Remove the nut holding the steering ball joint, remove the lower set screw, and then remove the nut.
3. Rotate to remove the steering ball joint. Make sure to confirm the original position before removal so that it can be reinstalled at the original position.
4. Use pliers to remove the clamp holding the dust cover, and loosen the clamp on the inside to remove the dust cover.
