SHOCK ABSORBER DUST COVER

SHOCK ABSORBER DUST COVER / BUFFER RUBBER STACK

■    The shock absorber dust cover serves to protect against dust, mud, and scratches, and it also plays a role in safeguarding the shock absorber. It ensures that the internal lubricating oil does not leak out and prevents the shock absorber from being covered in dust, thereby ensuring the shock absorber maintains its optimal working condition.

 Neoprene Shock Absorber Dust Cover

■    Standard rubber dust covers are the most common type used in many vehicles. They offer excellent flexibility, wear resistance, and cost-effectiveness. The design of standard rubber dust covers typically includes accordion-style folds, allowing them to expand and contract during steering movements to provide reliable protection against dust, debris, and moisture. These covers are widely used in compact cars,  sedans, and some light trucks under standard driving conditions.

 TPEE Shock Absorber Dust Cover

■    TPEE materials are the newest of the thermoplastic elastomers that are gaining attention and are being used in preference by an increasing number of automotive manufacturers. TPEE contains PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) polyester hard segment and aliphatic polyester or polyether soft segment in a linear block copolymer. It combines the excellent elasticity of rubber and the easy processability of thermoplastic, with an adjustable hardness and softness and free design.

Mechanical Performance: Through the adjustment of the ratio of soft and hard sections, the hardness of TPEE may range from Shore D30-82, and its elasticity and strength are between rubber and plastic, with extremely high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, low temperature flexibility, and abrasion resistance.

High and low temperature resistance: TPEE features excellent heat resistance, and as hardness increases, heat resistance becomes improved. In addition, it features excellent low temperature resistance. The brittle point is lower than -70℃, and the lower the hardness, the better the cold resistance, and allows long-term use at -40℃.

Chemical resistance: TPEE possesses excellent oil resistance and is resistant to polar liquid chemical media at normal temperature, with its resistance to chemicals increasing as its hardness improves.

Weather fastness: TPEE has outstanding chemical stability when subjected to many varying conditions, such as water spray, ozone, and outdoor atmospheric aging. Degradation will occur under UV light, as it happens with most TPEs.

 Shock Absorber Buffer Rubber Stack

■    The buffer rubber stack plays a crucial role in the shock absorption and cushioning of vehicles. Generally made of rubber material, it assists the shock absorber and suspension spring in providing shock absorption and cushioning, extending the life of the suspension spring and improving driving comfort. During the operation of the shock absorber, the buffer rubber stack converts the impact from the ground into the continuous jumping motion of the torsion spring. Meanwhile, the shock absorber optimizes and accelerates the decay rate of the torsion spring's original vibrations, and finally, the shock absorber top rubber serves as the ultimate cushioning transmission to the vehicle body. As a core component of the vehicle's shock absorption system, the buffer rubber stack absorbs vibrations and impacts caused by uneven road surfaces. In addition to the shock absorber and suspension spring, the buffer rubber stack also plays a buffering role in the shock absorber.

■    Protect the vehicle's shock absorber piston rod from dirt, dust, mud, etc., extending the life of the shock absorber.
■    Superior performance in high and low temperatures.
■    Not only prevent impact on the shock absorber and spring but also reduce vehicle body vibration noise, enhancing ride comfort.

 Maintenance Tips

■    Dust and sand can easily enter during driving and affect the lifespan of the shock absorber. If the dust cover is damaged, it is advisable to replace it as soon as possible. The dust cover not only prevents dust but also protects the internal lubricating oil from leaking out, ensuring the shock absorber remains in optimal working condition.

■    It is best not to disassemble at will.
Firstly, many connecting rods are easy to damage during disassembly and difficult to dismantle due to tightly secured screws.Secondly, disassembly will affect the four-wheel alignment data, necessitating re-alignment, and the new alignment data may not be as accurate as the factory settings.

■    If the buffer rubber stack is damaged, it can cause the shock absorber top rubber to wear severely, leading to noise during the operation of the shock absorber or when steering while stationary. This will significantly reduce both handling and ride comfort.
