DRAIN BOLT

 DRAIN BOLT

■    The drain bolt is used to drain old engine oil when changing the engine oil. It is located at the bottom of the engine oil pan. During maintenance, when the engine requires an oil change, this bolt is unscrewed to drain the old engine oil, and then new engine oil is added through the engine's oil filler port.

■    The specifications and models of drain bolts may vary across different car brands. Therefore, when replacing the drain bolt, it is essential to select the appropriate specifications and models according to the brand and model of one's own vehicle. If uncertain, it is advisable to consult a professional automotive repair station or to make the purchase there.

■    Typically, during nonscheduled bolt replacements in the maintenance process, repeated disassembly and tightening of the drain bolt may result in thread wear and aging, leading to oil seepage or leakage from the oil pan. In severe cases, this may even lead to catastrophic engine damage, such as cylinder bore scoring.

■    MASUMA drain bolts are categorized into non-magnetic drain bolts and magnetic drain bolts. The washers are made of high-quality copper and aluminum, which are softer than iron or steel washers. Upon tightening, the washers undergo slight deformation under pressure, perfectly filling the irregularities of the contact surface to achieve an excellent sealing effect. Furthermore, the friction generated after tightening is significant, effectively preventing bolt loosening.

Superior material:  They are made from high-strength alloy materials, capable of withstanding substantial tensile and compressive forces.

Good corrosion resistance:  The surface employs a specialized coating technology that enhances the corrosion resistance of the bolts, resulting in a longer service life.

Excellent fastening effect:  The high-performance drain bolts utilize a unique screw process, which ensures a more secure connection between the bolt and the parent material, improving fastening effectiveness.

 DRAIN BOLT

■    The advantage of a magnetic drain bolt primarily lies in its purification of engine oil and its protection of the engine. Through its built-in strong magnetism, this type of bolt can effectively attract metal particles and iron shavings in the engine oil, preventing these impurities from being drawn into the oil pump, thereby avoiding secondary damage to the engine. This design not only helps maintain the cleanliness of the engine oil but also enhances the engine's lubrication performance, prolonging its service life. Specifically, the advantages of a magnetic drain bolt include:

Metal particle adsorption:   The strong magnet drain bolt can attract metal particles remaining in the engine oil, including larger chunks of abnormal wear iron shavings, thereby protecting the engine from damage.

Prevention of secondary damage:  By absorbing metal particles and iron shavings in the engine oil, it prevents these particles from being drawn into the oil pump, causing secondary damage to other parts of the engine.

Protecting the engine to extend its lifespan:  By adsorbing impurities in the engine oil, the cleanliness of the engine oil circulation is maintained, indirectly protecting the engine from wear particles, thus enhancing lubrication performance and prolonging the engine's lifespan.

 Precautions:

■    When replacing the drain bolt, it is essential to ensure the selection of suitable specifications and models. Additionally, the following points should be noted:
■    Select products through formal channels to avoid purchasing counterfeit or inferior products.
■    Use the correct tools and methods during replacement; do not force the use of excessively powerful tools.
■    After replacement, it is crucial to check that the torque of the bolt meets the specified requirements to ensure proper fastening.

■    During use, it is essential to regularly inspect and tighten the drain bolt and other critical bolts to ensure their secure fastening.
■    For the drain bolt, care should be taken not to overtighten or leave it too loose to prevent damage to its sealing performance.

■    When oil seepage occurs in the oil pan, it indicates that the drain bolt may have caused thread wear and aging. If not replaced in a timely manner, this could lead to significant engine damage, such as cylinder bore scoring. Therefore, during automotive maintenance, if oil seepage occurs in the oil pan or if the maintenance involves disassembly more than twice, it is recommended to replace the gasket, as it may lose its resilience due to compression, resulting in poor sealing. In cases where frequent disassembly or improper use of disassembly tools causes the wrench to round, the drain bolt must be replaced. If the screw has stripped threads, it will fail to effectively engage, thereby compromising the stability of the connection, which also necessitates the replacement of the drain bolt.

■    In conclusion, when purchasing drain bolts and during maintenance, it is vital to choose products that meet the actual needs of the vehicle to ensure its proper operation and safety.
